Product Description
IPEVO S0-10 Skype Desktop Phone is a perfect telephone for those who prefer the look and feel of a traditional desktop phone along with the free or low cost of Internet calling through Skype - all without the need for a computer! Fully Skype-certified, the SO-10 takes the convenient features of the Skype VOIP computer application - history, contact list, status, Skype user search - and condenses them into an easy-to-use interface. This interface comes courtesy of a bright, sharp, full color 2.4 inch LCD screen, which is adjustable depending on desired viewing angle. Intuitive navigation and large menu icons emulate the familiar Skype application, which provides free Skype-to-Skype calls and low-cost domestic and international calling over the Internet.

With complete Skype functionality already installed on the SO-10's computer-grade CPU, there's never the hassle of software installation or cumbersome configurations. Simply plug the SO-10 into your DSL or Cable Modem connection (with included CAT5 Ethernet cable); optionally, you can also plug your computer into the SO-10 in case you need or would like to share the Internet connection with a computer. From there, sign directly into your existing Skype account, or create a new free Skype account right there on the phone. The SO-10 will connect to your account and import your contact list, along with such things as Skype Credit. Non-Skype mobile phone or landline users can call you directly if you opt into the SkypeIn program, while you can call non-Skype phones via the optional SkypeOut program. Your Skype voicemail (another optional service) is also easily accessible.

While the SO-10 is fully integrated with Skype, it handles like a traditional desktop phone, and it has all the features and functionality you've grown accustomed to. Adjust volume, access speed dial numbers, mute, redial, or enjoy handsfree speakerphone mode, all at the touch of a button.

3 out of 5 stars Other end can not hear me very clear using this phone   February 28, 2010

I had this product for just a week. It is great product but one problem, I can hear it very clear over the conversation, but other end can not hear me very well. Sounds is low and blur. They told me to get out wood box and talk louder. That was what sound like. My other IPEVO S10 phone did not have this problem. does any one has this problem as mine?

2 out of 5 stars All the features except the ones that matter.   February 12, 2010

The phone arrived quickly and well packaged. Overall, the appearance, ease of setup and packaging are impressive. Sadly, that is where the goodness ended. Here are the problems that I had with the device.

1) When making a Skype test call, I got radiated noise when using the speakerphone and only while I was speaking. Most likely due to an unshielded microphone. This was confirmed by continuing the test call with the handset and the noise disappeared.

2) When using the handset, I was not able to dial the conference call codes to enter the meetings. Interestingly, the keypad worked fine when using the speakerphone to make the call.

3) Once I was connected, callers would report an echo that was not affected by the volume control.

I have been working with the manufacturer for a week and even though no resolution has been found, they have been responsive to my queries. Maybe the unit I got is 'special' but it does not even come close to my d-link dph-50u, ipevo s0-20 or MagicJack.

4 out of 5 stars Good desktop Skype phone   February 2, 2010

I was chosing between SO-10 and SO-20. At the end I went for the SO-10 and I like it a lot. I keep it on the desk next to my other land line phone. It is very easy to use and sound quality is great. I use it with Skype-In and Skype-Out. Both works great! Im from Sweden but live abroad. Now it is very easy for family and friends back home in Sweden to call me on a local Swedish number (Skype-In).

Only had some small issues with software. It has hanged once since I got it a couple of months ago. Also sometimes it seems like status is changed automatically from "invisible" to "online". I think this happens when there is network problem and connection is lost for a short while. Then it seems like on login it will go to "online" status instead of "invisible" as it was before.

In all Im very happy with this phone!! It is very convenient to be able to receive and make phone calls without messing around witha computer.

4 out of 5 stars Overall, pretty good   January 2, 2010

I'm sure most people are primarily concerned with call quality. The best way to describe it is to think of a cell phone with 1 bar...95% of the time it's great, but you will get the occasional delay or jumbled word, and the person on the other end may hear a faint hiss. You will also have to wait until the other person is finished speaking before you start as it doesn't seem to handle 2 way communication at the same time all that well. The volume is much better than other VOIP phones I have tried. Obviously, the faster your internet speed, the better the call. Simply put, if you are using the cheapest DSL available, you should expect less than perfect results. The phone is good looking, and the setup is a no brainer. Overall I would say it is the best of 4 different units I've tried and I am pleased with the purchase.
