Product Description
Add your voice to IM chats with this USB speakerphone by MiniVox. The combination speaker/microphone uses echo cancellation and background noise suppression technology to keep your online calls crystal clear. Plug a headset (sold separately) into the 2.5mm audio jack for privacy, or crank the speaker to its full volume (110 dB) when you want sound for a crowd. It's compact enough to slip into a pocket, and requires only a USB connection (cable included). Compatible with PC and Mac operating systems: WIN 98SE/Me/2000/XP and Mac OS9/OSX. Imported. 3-1/5Hx4/5Wx2-1/5L".

3 out of 5 stars Mediocre Mic Quality   August 19, 2010
Scott Becker (Sherman Oaks, CA United States)
mic sound quality was just ok. It gets the job done.

For a decent amount more, this other device has fantastic mic quality: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0028HE7K2/ref=cm_cr_mts_prod_img

3 out of 5 stars USB speakerphone purchase   September 2, 2009
Alan Fitzpatrick
The speakerphone works fine on Windows XP machines, but not at all on Vista. The description on the Amazon listing did not clearly state this. Since I have a Vista machine this product is worthless to me. Rather than saying works on PCs and Macs, they should say specifically which operating systems.

It does work fine on a friend's XP machine, and the shipping was timely and the product arrived in good condition.

5 out of 5 stars Great little device!   July 31, 2009
Austel (Austin, TX, USA)
This little speakerphone does exactly what it says.
And exactly what I needed it to do.
I use it for my home office, for use with my VoIP softphone. The company recommended solution is to use a headset, but that can get annoying if you're on conference calls for half the day (yes, even a BT headset gets old after a couple of hours).
This little box is perfect.
Just plug it into your USB, and you're done. All I had to do was calibrate my VoIP s/w for spkr and mic levels.
I have asked people on the call about how it sounds, and they all said it sounded great.
So I'm one happy customer!
Note: I believe it is not Vista compatible, which was not an issue for me because I'm still on XP.

The only thing I would add, if I could, is a mute button, and a on/off button. Right now I use the softphone GUI for those functions.

5 out of 5 stars The best speaker for Skype   July 6, 2009
Steve T (Washington)
I purchased this speaker to use with Skype. After numerous funky & expensive telephone to Skype devices, I got rid of them and purchased this one. It is very simple to use; works right out of the box with Windows XP and Mac OS. The quality of the speaker is good, although it would be nicer if it went a little louder. The microphone works well for multiple person conversations, but occasionally we had to put the device right up to our mouths when talking...
but for fifteen bucks, how can you complain.

2 out of 5 stars Terrible Speaker, Average Microphone   June 6, 2009
Soren (Bozeman, MT United States)

The sound quality of the speaker on this unit is very bad. As for people hearing you clearly on the other end, its performance is average at best. If you are a Mac user looking for a solution for Skype (like me), your built-in speakers and microphone are as good or better than this device.
